Fixing orphaned SQL users
I was migrating some databases and had some orphan users that I needed to fix. So, I found the sp_change_users_login stored procedure. It's pretty cool. Check it out.

Tag. I'm it.

It's about time. Steve Smith tagged me.

Here's 5 things you may not know about me.

1) I used to be very active in the animal rescue field, mainly with abandoned ducks and geese. I've literally rescued hundreds of abandoned birds. With team of people I gathered together, we were able to successfully rescue over 100 abandoned domestic ducks and 6 geese that would have been left to either die or be tortured at Centennial Park in Santa Ana, CA. There were many other times where I rescued abandoned ducks, geese, rabbits, chickens and just about anything that was living and non-human, but that was the biggest effort I lead. An article was published about my duck rescuing: Teen makes a habit of rescuing abandoned ducks . I used to bring the animals I rescued home and that would drive my mother crazy. I've also volunteered with Pacific Wildlife Project and had my fair share of interaction with federally protected species such as endangered brown pelicans, white pelicans, various sea birds (gulls, cormorants, grebes, etc.), and many other species of wildlife protected under the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act .

2) I dressed up as Cliff the Swallow for Swallows Day at the San Juan Capistrano Mission 2 years in a row.

3) I'm an Aries, which probably explains why I'm so stubborn. I was born on April 9, the same birthday as Hugh Hefner.

4) Up until sometime when I was 19, I originally wanted to be a veterinarian, but choose to enter the software development field instead. I had volunteered thousands of hours at the local animal shelter as well as worked there followed by a job at an emergency animal hospital, but my talent for programming kicked in and that's when I decided to switch.

5) When I was a baby, I was chosen as the New Years baby and got to wear a cute hat and sash.

Now it's my turn to tag 5 people. Here it goes:

Bill Ryan , Kevin Jones , Dean Fiala , David Silverlight , and  John Morales . Sorry Terri Morton. I would of tagged you, but you still don't have a blog.

1st MVP Live Chat
First of all, I'd like to say thanks to all those who attended. The 1st MVP Live Chat didn't go quite how I expected it to. Cute Chat ended up brining the server to it's knees within a matter of minutes. It took me 3 hours to get this server back to a functioning state.  I'm planning on having the 1st MVP Live Chat again within the next 2 weeks and will keep everyone updated on the new date.

My New Toy

I was using a Audiovox XV 6700 as my cell phone. I didn't like it because it was too bulky. Today I purchased a Samsung Blackjack. It's much more compact. Now it's time for me to play with my new toy.

I think I've found my twin

Last night at dinner, Wally McClure said I look like Christoph Wille. You be the judge. Christoph Wille is at the top and I'm at the bottom.

WinProTeam LINQ Presentation Part II
Tonight I gave a presentation on LINQ at the WinProTeam user group meeting in Rockville, MD. My co-workers Jonathan Cogley and John Morales also gave presentations, but they took up a majority of the time on their presentations leaving me with only 20 minutes, so the title of my presentation was changed to An Introduction to LINQ In < 20 Minutes at the last minute. You can download the slides and sample code from my presentation here .

Outlook 2007
I installed Office 2007 Professional RTM a couple of days ago. I've noticed that while Outlook 2007 is receiving email in the background it slows down my computer to the point that it freezes and sometimes beeps at me. I have 2GB of RAM and a duo core processor. It has got so bad that I have to put it in Offline mode and occasionally click Send / Receive. Is anybody else having issues with Office 2007, specifically Outlook 2007?
